Tai Lue

WHO ARE THEY?

There are about 1.5 million Tai Lue people worldwide living in China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. They are Theravada Buddhist and animist; each village having a temple to earn merit at and a village spirit to appease. Less than 1% of the Tai Lue people follow Christ. They live in the lowlands and have a higher economic status than the peoples of the mountains.

WHAT IS GOD DOING?

Our team is working with Tai Lue disciples to help them grow in their relationship with God and make disciples among their people and beyond. God is helping them persevere through village and government persecution. They are learning Bible stories in their language, sharing them with others, and looking for people of peace to open the door for their households to hear the gospel and begin to follow Christ together.

In China, we have a cross-cultural national team engaging the Tai Lue. In Laos, we continue to work with a local church we planted and are facilitating the Freedom House drug rehab project as a bridge for church planting. In Myanmar and Thailand we are equipping Tai Lue disciples in how to engage the Buddhist villages around them and work towards planting churches. God is also working through social media platforms as we post Tai Lue videos and have a Tai Lue responder team from Myanmar, Laos and Thailand to follow up with those who are engaged and open.

Pray:

That the Tai Lue disciples in China will grow in faith and boldness and make disciples among their people, planting healthy reproducing churches                                                                                                                                                                       

 

That our Lao coworkers will see Christ work powerfully through Freedom House to deliver captives and work through them to build His church                                                                                                                                                                             

 

That God will work through the social media strategy and Tai Lue responder team to grow His kingdom among their people

 

That the Holy Spirit will empower the Myanmar and Thai side national coworkers so they can boldly share the gospel and make disciples among the Tai Lue and beyond
