The Lahu Peoples

WHO ARE THEY?

There are many different types of Lahu peoples with separate languages and customs. They live in China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. Some of the Lahu people groups are already reached with the gospel, whereas others are still very much unreached. Our Lahu teammates have focused on planting churches among the unreached Lahu peoples; primarily the White Lahu, Lahu Aga, Lahu Dabo, and Lahu Guloh.  

The Lahu peoples are primarily animist, believing that spirits inhabit the physical world around them and need to be appeased. In this fear and power worldview the gospel has come with power and Jesus has shown his power over the spirits and his love has cast out fear.

The Lahu peoples live in villages in the mountains and rely on farming. Majority people groups often look down on them and their poorer economic status.

WHAT IS GOD DOING?

God has worked through our Lahu teammates to begin a movement of disciples and churches among the White Lahu and Lahu Aga in Laos. The Lahu Dabo in China has seen some first fruits but need long-term workers. Finally, the Lahu Guloh of Myanmar are currently receiving the gospel and bearing fruit via the testimony of those returning from Freedom House.

PRAY:

                                                                                                                                            That the White Lahu and Lahu Aga disciples will grow in their relationship with God and go in mission to other unreached peoples                                                               

The Lahu Guloh will have healthy reproducing churches                                                           

That there will be strategic church planters focused in China on the Lahu Dabo               

 May the Lord magnify His name in and through the Lahu peoples!
